President’s Blog – Invitation to Participate in CanSAGE
The program for the meeting is posted on our website (cansage.org) and as you can see, we have the first annual business meeting for the newly incorporated society. Our time for this meeting is limited to 30 minutes, so we are going to have to work efficiently. The agenda for the meeting will be circulated two weeks prior to the meeting date. I will give a brief statement of where we have come from in the past year and where we are going. We will then have to elect or appoint the executive and directors. The names that will stand for each of these positions will be included with the agenda you receive.
The Executive Committee includes the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, past president (in two years), Executive Director and 2 members at large.
The Board of Directors will include 5 members either elected or appointed by the membership. We need one member from Atlantic Canada, Ontario, Quebec, Central Canada and British Columbia. These positions are two year terms.
If you are interested in participating in the Executive or on the Board of Directors or would like to nominate a colleague I would ask that you forward the name to me in the next 6 weeks or so.
We will also have to vote to approve the draft bylaws for the society, if you can’t find a copy of them on the website, please let me know and I will send one out to you.
Most important, please register for the meeting. Tell your fellows, your residents and your undergraduates to register for the meeting. If you attended last year, you know the science was stellar, the abstracts and posters were outstanding and as with any gathering of Canadian gynecologists, there were great meals, drinks and plenty of stories. I look forward to building on all of those successes at our second annual meeting in Montreal. I will see you all in September.
