Letter to CanSAGE attendees
I looked up today and realized that it has been almost 12 weeks since we gathered in Montreal for the Second Annual CanSAGE conference. By virtue of being married to one of the most ruthless and efficient organizers I have ever met, my role in preparations for Christmas are limited, but it still seems like time in November and December is running downhill. As I have been traveling and talking with colleagues across Canada in the past weeks, it has been wonderful to continue to hear positive feedback about the meeting and the expectations for Banff 2018. I want to personally thank each of you for attending, for actively participating in the conference and the social activities and for sharing your knowledge and expertise on the podium and over beers.
Our new Executive and Board of Directors has had their first meeting and from that the various scientific and planning committees for CanSAGE 3 in Banff have been organized. We look forward to several new features including an MIS fellows boot camp and new efforts to engage residents. Start those digital recorders (VCRs to those in my generation) and bring your videos of rare cases, difficult surgeries or share your techniques for things we do everyday. Be involved and active.
We are also beginning to work on developing a more defined Fellows education program as well as a Clinical opinion on Outpatient and Ambulatory Gynecologic Procedures. You should soon see a much more active and updated Social Media program. If you want to participate in any of these or other similar activities, consultant, fellow or resident, please send me a quick note. Trust me, we will involve you.
Please ensure you are on our membership list and invite your friends to join as well. Your membership for this year was included in your registration fees for the meeting. Check the website often, be active on the list serv and please don’t keep your great ideas to yourself.
And last, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a joyful holiday season and a wonderful New Year. I look forward to working with you and seeing you all in Banff for CanSAGE 3. Cheers
John Thiel MD, FRCSC Unified Department Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology University of Saskatchewan
